MTSi AMX 8.8CN Specifications

The Media Technology Systems AMX 8.8CN is a CobraNet® full rack width1U rack mount configuration with 8 analog mic/line inputs and 8 analog outputs and DSP controlled automixer function built in.

Overview       Specifications

The MTS AMX 8.8CN is a CobraNet® full rack width 1U rack mount configuration with 8 analog mic/line inputs and 8 analog Line outputs. The AMX 8.8CN input section converts 8 channels of analog audio into a CobraNet® audio stream. The Euroblock input connectors accept a +4dBu nominal, max +24dBu peak, balanced audio signals. Each channel has 60dB of gain range set via the front panel gain control. 24V Phantom power is switch selectable on each input. Per channel Signal Present/Peak indicators allow setting of gain for optimum headroom, low noise and clip avoidance.

The AMX8.8CN internal signal processing provides a 16 channel Automatic microphone Mixer with 2 expansion ports (the MX8.8CN uses CobraNet® channels for the transfer of Automixer control and audio linker signals). Up to three AMX8.8CN can be linked to provide an Automatic Microphone Mixer matrix size from 16x8, to 42x24. The AutoMixer is a gated type with ambient threshold sensing, where the gate ‘active’ indicator can be used to trigger camera-positioning presets.

The AMX8.8CN AutoMixer has a 16x7 matrix, where the 7 outputs connect as follows..
• Matrix outputs 1,2 & 3 feed analog output channels 1,2 & 3, where each output an 8 band Parametric EQ, Compressor and High/Low pass filters that can be easily set up as 4th order Linkwitz-Riley filters for driving Left, Right and Sub bass frontal loudspeakers.
• Matrix output 4 feeds analog output channel 4, with standard High/Low pass filters, 6 band parametric EQ and compressor for (typically) driving the first (undelayed) row of ceiling loudspeakers.
• Matrix output 5 feeds analog output channels 5 to 8, where the processing (High/Low pass filters, 6 band parametric EQ and compressor)
is connected to a 4-tap 50mS delay (see schematic below).
• Matrix output 6 is the mix sum of all local microphone inputs to link to other AMX8.8CN(s).
• Matrix output 7 is a general-purpose mix sum to feed other CobraNet® devices. For example, the feed could be used to connect to remote ION0.2 feeding delayed loudspeaker clusters.

AMX 8.8CN provides 100MPS of embedded DSP processing for simple routing and processing, with ducking, EQ filters, high pass/low pass filters and compressors on each analog channel (see MTS GUI and AMX series configuration software on the MTS website for details). Additionally the AMX 8.8CN provides a 20x20/24x24 respectively matrix input-output router that can receive up to 16 incoming audio streams and transmit up to 16 outgoing network audio streams.
